Krishna Janmashtami is the day Krishna was born. It is also called Gokulashtami, because Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, was born in Gokulam on the eighth (Ashtami) day of the Bhadrapad month .
Lord Krishna took birth to spread the message of dharma, love, and oneness on earth. Therein lies the importance of Janmashtami to the people of India and around the world.
"Do everything you have to do, but not with greed, not with ego, not with lust, not with envy but with love, compassion, humility and devotion."
-Lord Krishna, Bhagavad Gita.
Here are the cute little Krishna avtars and his beloved Gopikas and the celebrations from our Montessori school.
